Martina Milburn, chief executive, The Prince's Trust shared her top tips for success in fundraising:

• Keep it simple and be passionate.
• Ensure your trustees fit your objectives - advisory boards are a good way to move people sideways if necessary.
• There are different ways to engage with different audiences - make sure you are using the right people.
• Do your research - make sure you understand the people you would like to receive money from.
• Always report back on how you are doing and respond to enquiries - people feel very personal about their charities.
• Think about how you reward your donors - is there someone on the board who could bring a 'sparkle' to the process?
• You have to change if you want different results!
