Making the most of mobile technology

Chris Condron, Head of Digital Strategy, Press Association and Mark Rock, CEO, Audioboo

Digital Revolution event: Mark Rock

Press Association’s Chris Condron (guest speaker at Media Trust’s recent Spring Conference) explained at the opening of this presentation that the PC market has reached saturation point. The current global growth surge? Mobile, mobile, mobile!

A mobile phone, according to Chris, is today a mobile computer and they’re becoming ever more powerful. Computing power, great design and wireless access have made the growth unstoppable. Social networking and the search for information (and the two biggest drivers of those, Facebook and Google) are now a pocket-sized and utterly central part of our lives.

Today, with tools like Audioboo, you can tell your story essentially for free. And your consumers are no longer passive - they can be mobilised to get your message across and your voice heard.

Audioboo is a mobile and web platform that effortlessly allows you to record and upload audio for your friends, family or the rest of the world to hear. Launched in March 2009 on the iPhone, it allows you to easily record five minutes of audio, add a photo, title and tags and then uploads to audioboo.fm complete with geolocation info. From your account, you can set it to autopost to networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
