Top tips for social media beginners

  • Listen first then promote others by retweeting and linking. Don't only promote your own stuff, others will return the favour.

  • Create guidelines to support and empower staff so they are comfortable and equipped to use social media for your organization's aims. Not policy to restrict and frighten them

  • Get colleagues working closest to the coalface to operate social media accounts or else talk with them daily to get real first-hand content.

  • Be real. Sprinkle in noise and day to day stuff. Go 80/20 rule work/life if in doubt and adjust as you go.
