  • Definition: A brand is a ‘promise’. It’s what they get from you, time and time again, so it must always be consistent, which means you must be able to deliver it.
     
  • Always ask your target market what they think of you.
     
  • Try to position yourself to deliver what they want from you, not what you want to give to them.
     
  • Clarify this position with a simple statement (or slogan) which appears everywhere.
     
  • Use design, imagery, tone of voice etc to reinforce this position.
     
  • Remember, the perception is the reality, so ensure that everything you do, and every communication you make, is congruent with this position.
