  • A PR strategy should be objective-led and clearly identify the target audiences and key messages for the PR programme, project or campaign.
     
  • There is more to PR than press and media relations - use a range of relevant PR tactics to get the right messages to the right audiences
     
  • You can't afford not to evaluate. If the PR objectives are SMART and clearly defined from the outset post-activity evaluation will be much simpler (and cheaper!)
     
  • Be strategic. Integrate your PR and communications with campaigning, fundraising and other relevant organisational activity from the beginning. The impact of integrated PR and communications is far greater
     
  • Don't be afraid to ask "why" you need a press release!
